The SRI & SMI are research-based, adaptive assessments that measure reading and math skills and longitudinal progress from Kindergarten through college readiness. Both are administered on computers in a group setting three times a year to monitor student growth throughout the year, to estimate students’ understanding of state standards, and predict their performance on the RISE end of level state test.

The data obtained from State assessments may be utilized by teachers and administrators to review student academic progress, plan instruction, and share with students and parents.

Summative assessments allow for data to be used in public reporting about school quality. 

ACADIENCE

The Acadience Reading assessment is a set of procedures and measures for assessing the acquisition of early literacy skills from kindergarten through sixth grade. They are designed to be short (one minute) test probes used to regularly monitor the development of early literacy and early reading skills.

RISE

The RISE assessment is a multistage computer adaptive criterion referenced assessment system that includes summative tests for English Language Arts (ELAs), Mathematics, Science, and Writing. Students in grades third grade through eighth grade take the RISE assessments in the spring of each year and students’ proficiency results are one way to see how much they have grown in their learning and also help the school to identify areas of need.

ACT ASPIRE PLUS

Utah Aspire Plus measures student knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in reading, English, math, and science. The assessment consists of both ACT Aspire and Utah teacher-written questions and will be administered to 9th and 10th grade students starting in the Spring of 2019.

ACT 

The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. It is currently administered by ACT, a nonprofit organization of the same name. The ACT test covers four academic skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and scientific reasoning. It also offers an optional direct writing test.

Civics (Required for Graduation)

Locally administered civics exam with questions from the U.S. immigration and naturalization test.

CTE SKILLS CERTIFICATE ASSESSMENT (Required for CTE Certification)

Competency-based tests given to students when the complete a course in CTE.

• You can submit a parental exclusion form and the school will ensure that your child doesn’t access the test(s). Board Rule 277-404-7

• If you would like to opt your student out of any state assessments, print, complete, and submit the appropriate form.

• The form must be completed fully and properly, then submitted to the front office at least twenty-four (24) hours before the assessment begins.

• Make sure to mark each individual test from which you would like your student excluded in the form.

• Students who have submitted parental exclusion forms will be provided a teacher created assignment to do in place of the state assessment(s)
